You cannot afford to make a mistake when giving someone a tattoo. I have seen everything form prison tats to super elaborate sleeve tattoos done by incredibly talented artists. I am amazed at how realistic a tattoo can be on skin. I have seen 3D tattoo designs that are so expertly colored and shaded that they should be displayed in a museum. Photographs of these tattoos can reveal a lot of detail, but seeing them in person is better. I saw a tattoo of a large blooming rose that looked like you could reach out and grab it.
I see a lot of people with tattoos, and some of them obviously were hunting for a bargain price on a basic tattoo. If I was to get any ink on me, it would have to be from one of the best artists out there. Why would you settle for anything less? I would travel to get a tattoo done by an expert artist rather than settle for some local person in a tattoo shop that did nice but not extraordinary tattoos. A lot of the advertising for local tattoo artists is by word of mouth recommendations.
If I was getting something done, such as sleeve tattoos, I would review an artist’s online portfolio and then go to wherever they had their tattoo studio. I would keep going back to have them complete the work too. I guess I am a perfectionist, but I think you should be if you are going to let someone draw on your skin using needles and permanent ink. If you are going to put money out for a tattoo anyway, then you should get the absolute best one you can get, and get it done by a tattoo artist that does it better than anyone else.
